Welcome to this “off the beaten
path” hidden gem here in paradise! This is a local hang out in which
everyone is invited to enjoy the quaintness and beauty of nature along with
stunning sunsets. Come along with us as we show you a good time and what you can
expect upon your visit here!
First,
if you didn’t know where you were going, you wouldn’t know where you were
going! This hidden gem lies tightly tucked away on the scenic Ward Lake
Preserve. The lake leads to the Braden River winding its way around to the
infamous Manatee River eventually leading you out into the vast Atlantic Ocean

Jiggs Landing Outpost is full of fun
for the entire family and is certainly a place to unwind, disconnect (from your
phones!), relax and soak up the peacefulness it has to offer. Spirits of many
kinds are available along with an eclectic array of food choices as you can view on their menus.
Please take a moment to step back in time and read about Jiggs and Agnes
Metcalf as they were the founders of Jiggs Landing dating back to the 40s (picture provided). Cabins
are available for rent with nightly and weekly rental. Leading to and
beyond the cabins is a wooden walkway to the fishing pier for you to enjoy
the line and pole experience and be able to share the fishing stories with your
buddies! There are kayaks available (for rent) at your leisure with easy
water access at the kayak launch pad. There is ample parking with
a parking lot for boats very near the boat ramp. No boat? No worries. They
rent them also.
The Landing gives the feel of
sitting on one's porch in wooden chairs, picnic tables, benches overlooking the
green grounds and watching the local musicians play their tunes while everyone
smiles and sings along. You can sit alongside the water watching the many
protected species of birds including owls, hawks, osprey, vultures, and
occasional eagles. As for fishing, we hear that bass is quite prevalent.
We have seen alligators in the water also.
The large pavilions (available for
rent) provide plenty of shade for those wishing to have a family grill out
while the kids play on the large playground made of artificial turf. Please
note that this is a pet friendly atmosphere, and our dog Mugsy loves it here!
They will always have a bowl of water available for the pups and we bet
they will even leave the lights on for you!
